There are any number of reasons why you might want to replace the Ford fiesta zetec s sump on the 2.0 liter engine; it might be cracked, the wrong shape or inadequate for racing. Professional mechanics know that the 2.0 liter sump has a couple of problems that could be serious when used in racing cars: 1.) Inadequate ground clearance, and 2.) Tendency towards oil starvation. Thus, replacing the Zetec sump on modified race cars has become a common fix for mechanics who want to improve performance.

When car wheels, tires and engines are modified to improve racing handling and performance on high-speed tracks, the low clearance of the 2.0 liter sump becomes an issue. Because the Zetec 2.0 liter sump is already very low to the ground, professional mechanics figure that replacing it is a good idea. Sometimes, the Zetec sump is the wrong shape or in the wrong location for racing requirements.

The three main ways for replacing the Zetec 2.0 liter sump are as follows: 1.) Replacing with the 1.8 liter version, 2.) Replacing with a racing version, or 3.) Shortening it.

Compared to the Zetec 1.8 liter sump, the 2.0 liter version is too deep. Also, mechanics need to make sure the oil pickup pipe is replaced too.

During lateral acceleration, the 2.0 liter fiesta zetec s sump can lead to oil starvation. Special racing conversion kits are available for replacing this sump.

Shortening the Zetec 2.0 liter sump is a common racing modification. First of all, the excess oil needs to be drained into a storage container. The Zetec 2.0 liter sump is removed from the engine. Mechanics should examine the old oil pickup pipe to see if it also needs to be replaced.

The sump should be degreased with a heavy duty automobile part cleanser. The old sealant and any other debris should be scrubbed out. Examine the parts for damage. Next, the bottom of the sump can be cut off with a hack saw to the preferred height for improved ground clearance.

Rugged edges should be filed away, then the bottom can be welded onto the new sump so that there aren’t any small holes that will leak fluid. The new, shortened sump should be washed thoroughly to remove any metal shavings. Then it can be refastened to the engine.

The Ford Fiesta zetec s is one of the most popular cars in the world, and it’s easy to see why. Not only are Fiestas relatively inexpensive and amazing fuel performers, they offer style in bunches. The only drawback to this popularity is that it’s difficult for the Ford Fiesta owner to stand out in the crowd. This is why aftermarket customization of the Fiesta has grown so popular. In order inspire you and get you started, here are our top ford fiesta styling ideas.

Window Dressing

In addition to their sleek looks, window deflectors are practical, inexpensive and simple to install. For this reason, they’re our number one Ford Fiesta styling idea. Deflectors are popular but with a range of styles that includes all colors and all shades of smoke, you should have no trouble finding a combination that is uniquely you.

Chrome Accents

With a step up in price and style, we introduce the many chrome accents available for the Ford Fiesta. If we have one complaint about the stock Fiesta, is that it’s lacking in chrome. Fix that by adding your own chrome touches. Start simple with door handle covers and headlight and taillight bezels, but with all the chrome accessories available, you’re limited only by your imagination.

Custom Grille

The Fiesta’s upper and lower grilles are two of the most important features on the vehicle. There’s a world of opportunity here for the Fiesta owner to design something unique. Moreover, there is a great selection of inserts available, so you don’t have to spend a fortune upgrading it. In addition, since the grille is broken into two sections, you have a lot of freedom to mix and match.

Custom Wheels

Along with the grille, the custom wheels are a defining aspect of the Fiesta. Understandably, you might find it difficult to part with those great looking wheels that Ford includes as standard equipment. However, you’d be passing up a brilliant opportunity to distinguish your Fiesta from the pack. If you don’t have a great deal of money to spend, consider impostor wheel covers.

Lowering Kit

Lowering kits are not for the faint of heart, and they’ll put in a dent in the wallet. However, if you want electric style and something that is truly different, then this is where you’ll find it.

Well there you have them, our top Ford Fiesta styling ideas. For more inspiration, consider visiting a car show with a focus on Fiesta. That’s also a great place to buy Fiesta accessories at reduced prices.

If you have a Fiesta Zetec S engine, this guide will help you understand its tuning parameters, so you can work on it in your home garage with peace of mind. Zetec tuning involves some intricate know-how of Ford performance engines. Car techies have noted the Zetec’s unique turbo performance characteristics since it’s debut on the market in 1992.

Tuning For Different Engine Sizes

The 1.6-L has been the hardest size to tune, classically. This is due to the 26mm inlets, and 28mm exhaust ports, as wellas the 1.6-L struggling to get up over 100bhp, and with it being incompatible with the 1.8 or 2 liter valve heads, all of which have caused many car enthusiasts interested in modifications to the Zetec engine to question why they would work with the 1.6-L at all. The 1.8 and 2.0-L are much better suited to taking on modifications, tunings and adjustments. Of course, your best bet is the 2-liter Zetec for maximum torque and power output capabilities.

A Question Of Horsepower

How much horsepower do you want? 550+ bhp can be achieved from a standard Zetec E engine, provided you have the time, money and effort to sink into it. There are many stages in between the standard 100bhp and achieving 550+, involving various parts swaps, such as rods and pistons, block size, forced induction and such. Your Zetec engine will be virtually unrecognizable from its standard factory issue, and the drag race-ready, compression-raised motor with a compression ratio of 10:1, and ultimate rev capability at the final stage of turbo tuning.

Throughout the varying stages of Zetec upgrade, you’ll need a plethora of equipment and technical capability.

For the 120-140bhp level, you’ll be utilizing filters and exhaust equipment. For the 120-150bhp level, you’ll need to tweak the camshafts, chips, and throttle body. For 180+bhp you will need to improve the induction and exhaust flow utilizing throttle bodies, management and injectors. 200+ bhp output requires higher lift cams, uprated con rod bolts for revving up to and beyond 7,000 RPMs. The 240bhp+ level requires a steel crank and rods, uprated bolts, and greater outputs for raised torque.

Forced Induction Upgrades

Forced induction engines have differing parameters from those not using forced induction. For going beyond 240+bhp, unrestrictive exhaust systems, CGI (Carbon Graphite Impregnate) blocks, heavily modified heads, decompression plates, custom inlet system, a strong-mounted turbo damper, and tubular intake manifold are all requirements for going truly “drag ready” when doing Zetec tuning.

The Ford Fiesta Zetecs Automatic made its U.S. debut back in the seventies, when hatchbacks were all the rage. Small, edgy and snazzy, the Ford Fiesta was a popular car for zippy drivers looking for a car that was fun to drive. This one fit the bill. The Fiesta is being re-introduced in 2011, so it’s not too early to think about what to look for in a Ford Fiesta Automatic.

“Car and Driver Magazine” called this little gem a “playful mighty mite,” a name that is well-earned by this snappy little car. Starting at around $13,300, this car will make its mark in 2011 as it did almost thirty years ago. The standard 1.6L Ti-VCT Duratec™14 engine delivers a smooth ride and precision handling. The low, aerodynamic contour makes it easy to handle on corners and for quick stopping. Look for the speed-sensitive steering and electric power assist feature that is new for 2011.

The Ford Fiesta automatic transmission is a powerful six-speed that provides the torque to the wheels that is so necessary for a confident and smooth transition between speeds, and the benefits to fuel efficiency are a nice plus.

Some of the amenities to look for in a Ford Fiesta automatic include heated leather-trim seating, your choice of colorful interior and exterior lighting, a power moon roof and Sirius satellite radio. This little powerhouse even includes a light for the cup holders to enable the driver to find them while driving in the dark!

Also for 2011 are the all-new safety features that include seven standard airbags, including an airbag located at the drivers’ knees. The Fiesta has more standard airbags than any other car in its class. A steel safety cage is incorporated into the car’s design keeping the occupants safe in the event of a crash or rollover.

Finally, in considering what to look for in a Ford Fiesta automatic the prospective buyer will want to consider the five-door Fiesta as being the ultimate fun to drive car that so many Americans look for in a car today. With its rack and pinion steering, sporty look and amazingly vibrant colors, the Ford Fiesta is the car to watch.

Ford Fiestas are subcompact “supermini” vehicles manufactured by Ford at overseas plants. The Ford Fiesta Zetec S is an especially sporty addition to the Fiesta line. It offers superior handling and a choice of either petrol or diesel engines. This car is mainly designed as a family vehicle, not for speed. But it makes a good show of being a sports car, combining such different prerogatives as economy, convenience, and reasonable speed and power in one package.

The car has a 1.6 liter engine which puts out 118 bhp, and has continuous and independently variable valve timing. The CO2 output is only around 140g/km, which makes it environmentally friendly. The fuel economy is improved over the earlier model – getting 5.9 liters/100 km (or 47.7 mpg in U.S. terms) as opposed to the previous 6.5 liters/100 km. It has a very easy and even feel, making for smooth accelerations and an overall athletic finesse to the ride.

One of the strong points of the Fiesta Zetec S is the suspension, which works together with an increased frame rigidity. It uses stronger steel at key points which gives the suspension a firmer base and allows for greater certainty and smoothness on turns and bumpy roads. In addition this car is also about 40kg lighter than its predecessor which also assists in better handling.

The steering is electric rather than hydraulic. This makes the handling a bit less dynamic, but the steering is still precise and responsive. Moreover the new steering saves on gas consumption, which is, again, one of the big advantages of the vehicle.

Looks wise the Zetec is also “sharpened up” over the previous editions. It has a sleeker overall shape than the old one – with pointier head lamps and redesigned rear lights, new bumpers, and side moldings that taper toward the ffront of the vehicle. These aren’t huge changes, but they are enough to give the design that extra assertiveness that makes it “sporty,” and gives it a certain new zing and appeal. The is also a remodeled roof spoiler and new alloy wheels.

The interior is leathery and modern looking. It has a console with cell-phone like controls, continuing the sleek, sporty theme. The only drawback to the interior, perhaps, is the hard plastic on the dashboard console and on the doors, which looks a bit cheap compared to the overall style of the rest of the vehicle. But these are easy to overlook as the total impression is stylish, sharp, and sophisticated.

This car is a great blend of characteristics and should appeal to the young go getter and family traveler alike.
